2 | Moisture Management in Showers - Leaks and mold continue to pose serious problems for the construction industry. This seminar will compare traditional waterproofing systems with modern waterproofing technology to show how tiled showers have evolved. The fundamentals of both approaches, including proper design, execution, and function will be presented, with close attention paid to common errors, as well. The benefits of bonded waterproofing technology and how it has improved tiled showers will be stressed. Learning Objectives: At the end of this presentation, the participant will be able to: 1. Identify the benefits and challenges associated with tiled showers. 2. Understand the proper design and execution of tiled shower waterproofing systems. 3. Recognize the benefits of bonded waterproofing technology and how it has revolutionized tiled showers

3 | Uncoupling Principle - This seminar will examine the Uncoupling Principle, which is now recognized in the Tile Council of America's 2019 Handbook for Ceramic Tile Installation as well as by the Terrazzo Tile & Marble Association of Canada.  Review the history behind the Uncoupling Principle and examine the evolution of tile settling techniques, along with the benefits and limitations of each stage of development.  The individual functions that are inherent to an uncoupling system will be discussed and the major implications for tile and stone installations revealed.  Learning Objectives: At the end of this program, the participant will be able to 1) comprehend the basics of the uncoupling principle and its relationship to the tile and stone industry 2) recognize new areas of installation that can be attained through the utilization of an uncoupling system 3) interpret and apply the new details and applications found in the current TCA Handbook. 

4 | Challenges and Solutions For Today’s Tile And Stone Installations - Ceramic and stone tiles are beautiful and durable surface coverings, but today’s construction environment presents a variety of unique installation challenges. This NON-PROPRIETARY Seminar will look at the history of tile installation and address both traditional methods and new technology. Topics that will be covered will include tile membrane advancements, movement accommodation, and controversial issues such as mold and questionable shower assemblies. TCA Handbook details will be discussed. Learning Objectives: At the end of this program, the participant will be able to: 1) comprehend the challenges associated with tile and stone installations. 2) recognize new areas of application that can be attained through the utilization of new installation technology.

5 | Building Barrier-Free Showers - This seminar will examine ways in which barrier-free environments can be customized to include various design elements while remaining ADA-compliant. This seminar will also address why bonded waterproofing technology lends itself to the construction requirements of barrier-free design. Learning Objectives: 1) Understand that there are varying standards for barrier-free construction. 2) Recognize the specialized waterproofing measures that must be taken when designing a curb-less shower for an ADA-compliant barrier-free environment. 3) Be able to specify and incorporate custom design elements into an ADA-compliant barrier-free shower. 4) Be able to seek out resources detailing ADA specifications of special requirements for shower seating, niches, grab bars, benches etc.

5 | Combining Design and Function in Today’s ADA-Compliant Bathrooms - Mandated requirements for ADA compliance and demand from an aging population are creating a growing need for barrier-free bathrooms. Today’s ADA-compliant bathroom no longer has to be utilitarian or “institutional” in its design. Design options are enhanced through the use of tile and innovative construction methods. The result is beautiful bathrooms that also adhere to ADA standards for accessible design. This seminar will examine ways in which barrier-free environments can be customized to include various design elements while remaining ADA-compliant. This seminar will also address why bonded waterproofing technology lends itself to the construction requirements of barrier-free design.
